San Vigilio di Marebbe/Kronplatz – The 10th edition of the Kronplatz King MTB Marathon was a resounding success. Under glorious summer skies and with a new race date – moved forward from late August/early September to July – around 600 mountain bikers from 17 nations competed for the coveted crown at Kronplatz.
On the demanding King Marathon course, covering 64 kilometres and 3,150 metres of elevation gain, Paez Leon Hector Leonardo (Colombia) claimed victory in 3:14:33, while Nisi Maria Cristina (Italy) won the women's race in 4:08:54, earning the titles of the new King and Queen of the Kronplatz King MTB Marathon 2026.
The Prince Classic, featuring 49 kilometres and 2,160 metres of climbing, also delivered top-class mountain bike racing. In the men's competition, Noah Laschewski (Germany) secured first place in 2:36:58, while Federica Spessot (Italy) claimed victory in the women's category with a time of 3:44:15.
Celebrating its 10th edition, the Kronplatz King MTB Marathon once again confirmed its reputation as one of the most prestigious and challenging mountain bike marathons in the Alps. What began ten years ago as a regional event has grown into an internationally renowned race, attracting elite athletes as well as ambitious amateur riders from around the world to Kronplatz every year.
Participants could choose between the King Marathon (64 km / 3,150 m elevation gain) and the Prince Classic (49 km / 2,160 m elevation gain). One of the event's defining features is its unique point-to-point format: starting in San Vigilio di Marebbe, the route climbs over Piz de Plaies, passes Pederü, crosses the Furcia Pass, and continues to the summit of Kronplatz at 2,275 metres above sea level. Elite riders also complete an additional demanding loop featuring a second final ascent to the summit of the world-famous ski mountain. Spectacular single trails, fast freeride descents, more than 3,000 metres of climbing, and the iconic mountain finish at the Concordia 2000 Bell make the Kronplatz King one of Europe's toughest and most spectacular mountain bike marathons.
"Every year it is an incredibly emotional moment when the first riders cross the finish line and I see the relief and joy on their faces. In those moments, I know that the months of hard work and the dedication of everyone involved have truly paid off," says Maurizio Kastlunger, organizer of the Kronplatz King MTB Marathon.
Thomas Reiter, Director of Skirama Kronplatz, also drew a highly positive conclusion after the anniversary edition: "Over the past ten years, the Kronplatz King MTB Marathon has become a flagship event for mountain biking in the Dolomites, creating significant added value for Kronplatz and the entire holiday region. My special thanks go to the hundreds of volunteers whose commitment makes an event of this scale possible. I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations and sincere thanks to Maurizio Kastlunger, President, and Alex Obojes, Vice President of Kronplatz King A.S.D., who have built this event with tremendous dedication, passion, and enthusiasm, and have continued to develop it year after year. Thank you, Maurizio and Alex!"
